Twisted classics, personal touches and a cocktail hour made for good company.
A cocktail called #CheeseNaan brings a certain sense of humour to a wedding menu.
For Shreenal and Guillaume’s wedding at Maison Estate, we worked alongside planner Anna Marcelle to serve a selection of twisted classics and standard beverages during cocktail hour. Familiar drinks took on fresh flavours, playful names and little details made for the occasion.
With the bar supplied by the planner, our role centred on the drinks and the people serving them.
Familiar favourites, with a little personality
There’s something welcoming about recognising a cocktail on a menu, then discovering a different side to it. This selection offered four distinct directions: floral and tart, tropical and silky, rich and spirit-forward, or bright and refreshing.
The accompanying hashtags added another layer of personality. From #NormandyMeetsMombasa to #MaisNonSheSaidYes, there was plenty to be curious about before the first sip.

Prep does wonders
The care behind the cocktails
Ruann Scholtz, our mixologist at the time, developed the cocktail recipes. His preparation notes reveal the work behind those simple menu descriptions: clarifying the Cape Cosmo’s fruit-and-flower blend, preparing the vanilla–pea flower component and infusing maple syrup with cacao nibs.
Those choices gave each drink its character. The non-alcoholic Paloma also gave guests choosing an alcohol-free drink a place within the cocktail menu.
Our service brief included talking guests through the selection, helping them find a drink that suited their tastes.
